10 Easy Steps to Help You Plan Your First Trip Abroad
I believe that you are reading this post for a purpose. Perhaps, you would love to travel someday and you are gathering enough courage to do so. Or probably, you already got the courage but still don’t know how can you make your first international adventure. For this reason, I came up with ten easy steps to help you plan your first trip abroad.
I used to believe that traveling is for those people who are naturally born with a silver spoon in their mouth until I get exposed to different travel blogs. These platforms have changed how I see things when it comes to traveling. I have come across not just one, two, or three, but many blogs that keep on proving that there are ways for traveling to be possible.
Here are my simple tips on how can I make your trip abroad possible.
1. Choose a country where you want to travel
It is better to choose a country that will not require you for a tourist visa. No tourist visa needed, no hassle.
2. Determine the length of your stay
There are many factors that you need to consider before you take a vacation to another country. One of these factors is your line of work and how long will you be allowed to have a vacation abroad.
Another thing that you should not forget in mind is to find the cost of living in that particular country. Remember, your budget must be proportionate to the length of your vacation trip as well.
3. Plan the activities that you are going to do.
Now that you already have an idea on how long are you going to stay in your destination, the next step is to identify what activities will you do in there. If it is just merely sightseeing, then you just have to spend on your food and transportation. If you desire to spend some of your time to amusement parks, you can also avail discount tickets online prior to your visit.
4. Research, research, research.
A budget trip abroad is possible if you do your research well.Researching is the key for a successful travel budget.Click To TweetRead travel blogs, ask people, join travel blog groups. Doing such things are essentials. Do a research on how much you really need to be able to enjoy your holiday overseas. You don’t actually have to spend much. Traveling to some countries in Asia is possible, even you just have around $200 to $300.
5. Work hard, save harder.
Traveling involves sacrifices when it comes to spending money. If you want to save more, you better work hard. Make no room for laziness if you want to achieve something. You better work hard and spend your money wisely.
Prioritize the things which are most important like foods, tuitions, bills, etc. If you have debts to anyone, do not forget to pay that person first. Traveling is not good when you know you still have a debt to someone. So better settle everything first before you leave.
6. Secure a passport.
Getting a passport has become easier now because of technology. For Filipinos, just go directly to DFA’s passport application online where you can make an appointment for your passport application. All the information you need to know can be found just by clicking on their FAQ’s menu.
On the other hand, if you already have a passport, you have to make sure that it is valid 6 months beyond the date of your departure to avoid inconvenience.
7. Book your plane tickets.
Have patience waiting for a seat sale before you book a plane ticket abroad. To keep yourself updated with the promos of different airlines, visit their websites regularly. You can also join them through their social networking accounts by liking their page and saving it.
Others keep on complaining they cannot go in another country because the ticket already cost an arm and a leg. A round trip ticket to Singapore may cost as high as 18,000 pesos but if there is a promotion you can have it for 6,000 pesos or even lower than that.
8. Make sure to book your accommodation in advance.
The earlier you book for an accommodation abroad the better. It is advisable to go to a hostel rather than a hotel to save money. There are many decent and budget hostels to choose from. Both Agoda and Airbnb will be of great help for you.
Study the reviews given to a particular hostel and its location as well. It is much better to stay in a hostel which is just near to the tourist attractions that you are going to visit.
9. Phone your credit card company that you will be out of the country on specified dates.
Credit cards are a big help when you are going to travel abroad; however, before you plunge on your dream trip you must inform your credit card issuer of your travel schedules. It might raise suspicion if the banks noticed that an unexpected transaction overseas was done using your credit card. Such occurrence of a sudden change in spending pattern might make your banks stop granting spending authorization.
10. Tell your family members and trusted friends that you are going for a trip.
No matter what is your age right now it is always necessary to let the people around you know your whereabouts for safety reasons. Accidents occur sometimes even we do not want them to participate in our dear life. Traveling outside the country is much better if you have the blessings and support from your loved ones.
One motto that I believe is that “If there is a will, there is a way!” Traveling in a budget is possible with careful research, proper discipline in spending money, and having faith in God and in yourself.
