Top Ten Thrilling 2017 Goals

Top Ten Thrilling 2017 Goals

The year 2016 has now come to an end.  Here we are facing another year which signifies new opportunity to become better.

Just last night, I reflected back on the things that in one way or another nurtured me to go this far in my life. There had been a lot of blessings coming now and then and I am thankful for everything.

I used to set goals since 2012 and I usually write it in a notebook. But, I am not an organized person which is something that I wanted to change this 2017. It is good to think that there will always be something we can check into of what we wrote before or on the first day of the year, and find out how much we’ve accomplished.

In 2017, I intended to . . .

  1. Read intensely

It has been a proven fact that reading has its own benefits. Aside from entertainment purposes, it also contributes on writing ideas. I always tell others that we cannot write if we do not read. Reading fuels our creativity enriches our vocabulary, and open doors of opportunities.

  1. Pray more

Prayer is an essential part of my life. I feel like I do not go astray once I commit to the Lord whatever it is in my heart. Praying does not necessarily be done only inside the church or in the morning and night before going to sleep. In fact, we can do it everywhere and anywhere. It serves as a strong weapon against enemies and whatever cruel punches a day may bring.

  1. Publish once a week in my blog

My friend told me I should write at least 3 times a week but with a full-time job, writing for several times within a week is skyrocketing. One article a week would be doable enough for a person with a full-time job offline.

  1. Do a trip to Indonesia with my boyfriend

It will be the third international trip we are going to do together and I can’t wait to see Borobudur and Prambanan Temple already.

  1. Celebrate my birthday in Cebu

My birthday falls on a rainy month but I still hope that the weather will be fine on that day so we can enjoy our short trip in Cebu.

  1. Finish 27 units in my graduate degree

Although it is quite challenging to work and study at the same time, I won’t take a break from it so it will not take more than 3 years to finish what I had just started. Laziness should not have a room in my mind. I will be definitely digging to more motivational videos and quotations to get going.

  1. Save money

Planning on how should I spend my money first before splurging it is one way to save. Deciding if a certain good or service will be worth it or not what was my mom told me. If it is really needed, then buy it but if I can go on with my life without it, then better leave it. In order not to complicate life, we should live just within our means.  It is also the same when we are going to a certain place which is reachable within few minutes of walking. It will be more practical than riding a tricycle. Doing it is a good chance to save.

  1. Learn how to cook

I was not trained to cook. Whenever I would go beside my dad when he was cooking, he would tell me to stay away because I might get hurt from the fire or the oil. I just experienced how to helped them in chopping the onions, carrots, tomatoes and other ingredients in the food they were going to cook. At present, it was only my mom and me in the house. There would be no one to cook if mom is not around. This is the perfect time for me to know how to cook. Thanks to Youtube videos which make my learning in cooking easier.

  1. Apply for a part-time job

I love to work not only with my colleagues in my full-time job but also with a different environment and various people. It widens my horizon and makes my life more exciting. Besides from those factors, it also thrills me knowing that I can earn extra income and use it for traveling once in a while in my busy life.

  1. Grow a garden

This idea is something that I also wanted to carry out this year. I would love to grow vegetables since buying them in the market is quite expensive most especially if there is a typhoon. I have missed this hobby too since I haven’t done it for a long time.

I am now ready to work on with my goals this 2017. May God bless me with all my endeavors.

  1. At first, I was thinking about thrilling as in activities that blows your mind away. But then I realized, as I read your post, that thrilling does not have to be a physically exhilarating activity at all. I suppose it is how serious you are taking the things you love doing, and need to do, that makes it quite an experience.

Go for it, Ana. You can do it!

Yay! So happy to see you you changed your blog layout. I like it better now. Anyway, I did write goals for 2017 as well and in fact I am in full swing for one of my goals and that is to meal prep so I can save, avoid eating out so much and reaching for the quick unhealthy food in the pantry. I like that your goals were very specific. I wish you well and I hope 2017 will be good for you. Cheers!

I suggest you read this post of yours every month. Then make a checklist for everything. i know for sure you’ll have Indonesia with your boyfriend 🙂 This actually is an effective way to keep your life on track. I’m thinking I should make this kind of journal as well. I have a friend who writes her thoughts (random thoughts) everytime. So she always have her notebook and pen with her always.

To be honest when I read the title I was expecting that you would want to do crazy things like bungee jumping or skydiving, or skinny dipping hahaha…. But I guess, we all have our own definition of what thrilling is. I think number 4 though would be the most thrilling. Traveling is number one of my list of the most adventurous activities in life.

Indeed you have planned your 2017 specifically! I commend you for that. Just like you, I want to post at least once a week, but life is hard when you are working online, taking care of the kids, and homeschooling. Sometimes I wish there’s more time in the world. ^_^

  6. I have so much planned for this year. It’s already the second month and time is flying by fast. I’d also like to take a trip and save money. Renovating my condo is also a priority.

  7. I’ve set a goal of publishing a post 4times a week this year. Guess what? I haven’t posted anything up until last week. It’s really hard to take care of a blog if you have a full time job.

  9. Awesome to see your goals Ana 🙂 I particularly love read intensely, because it’s something I’m trying to do as well. Right now, my goal is to finish all the Harry Potter books. It’s so that I can relate to my generation someday haha. I’m also a working student! It’s only my second term, so I ahve a long way to go. It’s really tough studying and working at the same time, esp that I study and work on two different cities. But I really have grown to love it because I’m learning a lot. It also gives me a sense of satisfaction that I’m on the right track. 🙂

Thank you Sam. Actually, I was inspired by your post which was published in Manila Bulletin and I admired you for having done such. Being able to publish articles in a newspaper or a magazine is one of the things I wanted to do in my life too. I understand how tough it is to work and study at the same time. However, I think that no matter how hectic the schedule is, I need to still find time to read to sharpen my mind and broaden my vocabulary and knowledge.

  10. I usually have yearly reading goals. I used to have 1 book a quarter as a goal since I have my hands full takign care of my 3 kids and I don’t have any helper or yaya. But in recent years, I realized that I’m able to read more than that so I raised my goal a bit this year. 🙂

One of my thrilling goals this year is to finish and publish at least 1 book. Last year, I was able to achieve that goal. I hope that with God’s help, I’d be able to fulfill this dream again this year. 🙂

Publishing a book is also in my bucket list. It is something that I have been thinking once my blog becomes established. I don’t have an idea yet on how it can be materialized. All I know is that if there is a will, there is a way. I hope you will be able to achieve all your goals this 2017.
